GEM Homes host Summer Bonanza Market

ROOSEVELT PARK – Elderly residents raise funds to maintain their residence.

The residents of GEM Homes, in Roosevelt Park, hosted a successful Summer Bonanza Market on 31 October, to raise funds for ongoing maintenance to their complex. Well supported by the community, the large variety of stalls and activities created a festival atmosphere, enjoyed by many.

A public benefit organisation, GEM Homes accommodates over ninety members of the ex-service and local community persons, many of whom have found themselves struggling to exist on the State old age pension. The Bonanza Market aimed to help them to help themselves retain their dignity and to remain independent for as long as possible.

A large variety of stalls boasted different and unique items. For example, good quality but affordable goods included delightful hand crafted gifts, jewellery, plants, cosmetics, toys, arts and crafts, make-up, a huge selection of books and good pre-owned clothing stalls. There was also plenty of eats and drinks to choose from.
