Frank Opperman soon on stage

MELVILLE – Well known local actor Frank Opperman will soon take the stage with a one-man comedy theatre production.

The well-known actor Frank Opperman will be starring in a one-man show on 8 November at the Assemblies of Christ Church in Westdene

Opperman will play the role of Dominee Tienie Benade in the comedy piece Klaagliedere van Dominee Tienie Benade.

The show is about a pastor whose church attendees numbers are dropping at a tremendous rate. He then comes up with various hilarious plans to attract the community back to his church.

Opperman said after 150 shows it is clear that the show is very successful and will not be a disappointment.

He continued that although their professions are miles apart, he does relate to the character to some degree.

“We both need to keep an audience entertained with a performance. That truly is an art,” said Opperman.

Opperman obtained his Drama Degree from the Tshwane University of Technology  in 1983 and has not stopped acting ever since.

He obtained fame through the Afrikaans comedy Soap Opera Orkey Snorkney and has starred in various films and theatre productions since then.

Opperman said his biggest moment as an actor is every time he steps on stage to start a new theatre production.

“Every time you step on stage you set a new goal for yourself – you are only as good as your last show,” said Opperman.

He did not want to say much about his next production, but that it will be in theatres across South Africa early next year.

Opperman’s advice to young actors is to be persistent and hard working.

Tickets cost R100 to R120.
