Honey the cow dies

JOBURG – SPCA staff say goodbye to their beloved cow, Honey.

23 September was a very sad day for the Johannesburg SPCA (JSPCA) as they had to bid farewell to Honey, their beloved cow.

JSPCA public relations officer Jolene Beyleveld said, “As Honey aged, she grew sickly and unfortunately it came to a point where we had to make the extremely hard decision to put her to sleep.”

The staff at the JSPCA wrote the following poem for Honey:

When tomorrow starts without me,

Don’t think we’re far apart,

For every time you think of me,

I’ll be right here inside your heart.

Some messages from staff who knew Honey:

Dave Woodward said, “Well my girl, we said our goodbyes and you will always be in my heart, never forgotten. You were a smashing pal. After what you had to go through before you got here, but hey, what a great life we had together, with you looking after Os as well. I know you two are back together now. Sleep well old girl.”

Inspector Ronald Ramalata said, “It is sad to say goodbye to a friend with whom you grew up and what makes it worse is that the heart-breaking decision needed to be made and have a final goodbye. Honey came to our organisation, young like me, and the SPCA had become a home for us.”
