Day 8 Flabba Trial: ‘And I stabbed him…”

KENSINGTON B – Sindiswe emotionally recounts how she stabbed Flabba.

Part two of day eight continued at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court for the Nkululeko ‘Flabba’ Trail on 16 September.

Sindisiwe Manqele took the witness stand to recall the second part of her involvement in Flabba’s death.

Manqele is accused of murdering late rap artist Nkululeko ‘Flabba’ Habedi on 9 March at his home in Alexandra.

On the night in question the couple argued in the deceased’s bedroom – altercation accelerated.

According to Manqele, she was packing her clothes to leave the Alexandra house when Flabba grabbed her again and pushed her onto the bed, and she fell to the table where the knife had been placed earlier and flung her onto the bed.

“He grabbed the knife and came on top of my thigh, with his left hand he held my hands above my head and pressed them into the bed.”

He allegedly said to Manqele, “Tell me who you have been f*/+ing?” and then grabbed the knife that was on the bed to his right. He rubbed the spit on my face with the hand that had the knife.”

Manqele was struggling under his weight when he let one of her hands go and stabbed her once in the stomach.

“He carried on poking me with the knife, until I was able to free my hands and I took the knife.”

Manqele tried to escape through the door when Flabba pulled her and turned her around to face him.

“He shook me violently by both of my biceps screaming at me.”

In a tearful and factual statement Manqele said, “In the process of him shaking me…I was terrified, I pushed against his chest and stabbed him.”

Manqele recalls how she only realised what had happened when Flabba screamed that she had stabbed him.

He staggered to the floor thereafter, Manqele frantically took her phone and ran to the door.

She made numerous calls to emergency services.

Defence advocate Norman Makhubela asked why Manqele had slashed her wrists after hearing that Flabba had passed away.

“I was devastated and shocked, I couldn’t imagine life without him and I just wanted to die,” cried Manqele.

The trial will continue at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court at 10am on 17 September.
