Following the recent concerns from residents regarding the impact of street pole cell mast, Tracey-Lee Dorny, who is chairperson of the Electromagnetic Radiation Research Foundation of South Africa (EMRRFSA) based in Randburg sheds some light about the impact of cell mast.
According to Dorny, residents have a right to decide what is placed outside their homes or transmitted through them.
In the past weeks, residents of Central Sharonlea, Linden and Weltevreden Park have complained about street pole cell masts that were erected without their knowledge.
They [residents] claim that the cell mast have negative impact on their health.
However, Dorny said research scientists and doctors are standing up about the impact of wireless communication from cell towers, Wi-Fi, smart meters and cellphones on health and the environment.
“There are an estimated 40 000 papers and studies showing the impacts,” she said.
According to Dorny, South Africa has a rapidly growing sector of people that have been made ill, by cell towers. “Some of them have had to desert their homes and live alone in isolated areas and some ran successful businesses or had serious careers prior to that,” she said.
Dorny also added that SA is lagging behind on protecting the public and the environment.
“The uncontrolled roll-out of even more biologically disruptive frequencies such as Long Term Evolution LTE is having a serious impact on the health and environment and with several service providers all transmitting LTE 24 hours a day in addition to WiMAX, 3G, 2G, 1G operating layer upon layer, the impacts should have been taken seriously many years ago when the technology first commenced,” she concluded.
Symptoms caused by Electromagnetic Fields and Wireless Technology:
• Searing pains in the head
• Blurry vision, severe pains in the stomach and a feeling of rib crushing. (Children, especially, have collapsed with severe stomach pains).
• Ongoing bouts of diarrhea, pins and needles in the feet and hands, tender breasts with sensitive nipples, painful joints, sore ovaries and hip bones, painful spine, lower back and neck, seizures, heart palpitations and pains, skin burning, thyroid and liver dysfunction and intense ringing in the ears/tinnitus are additional symptoms being reported.
• Cats have appeared to be particularly sensitive to the signal with diarrhea, vomiting, weight and hair loss. Other bird and bee reports have been noted.
• Certain tree types have shown rapid deterioration in LTE areas too.
