• Celeste Ntuli at Gold Reef City

Make your way to a comedy feast on 28 August at the Lyric Theatre in Gold Reef City as Celeste Ntuli brings down the roof. Celeste Ntuli is a South African Film and Television Award and Royalty Soapie Award nominee. Ntuli will be performing her popular stand-up show, Home Affairs 2.

•Thank You for the Music – A tribute to Abba, Bee Gees and Queen

Abba, Queen and The Bee Gees are three of the most influential pop and rock groups of all time. Make your way to the Barnyard Theatre production at Emperors Palace to witness their performances. The event started on 21 July and will end on 30 August 2015. Entrance fee: R100.

• The Caucasian Chalk Circle: Stage Play

Brecht’s classic play entitled The Caucasian Chalk Circle featuring 10 performers will be presented by The Performing Arts Fund (PAF) from 27 August to 6 September at the Joburg Theatre’s space.com. Entrance fee is R70.

• Women of Substance

Make your way to Silverstar Casino on 29 August for the Women of the Year Awards hosted by Women of Substance. Guest speaker is Edith Venter and the entertaiment line-up includes Samantha Peo, Bongi Moosa, Paul Salasile and Hardus Hartzenberg. Booking is essential and tickets are available at 011 475 4112.

• Classics meet classical

Opera fans and dance lovers can make their way to the Joburg Theatre when classics meet classical as opera and ballet join forces for two spectacular nights. The event takes place on 29 August and again on 10 September. The two evenings promise to be a feast of music, culture and dance. Tickets are available at Joburgtheatre.com and starts at R200.

• Second Annual Showbiz Entertainment Arts Expo 2015

Turn your talent into a business with expert advice at the second Annual Showbiz Entertainment Arts Expo 2015. The Expo will take place at Museum Africa in Newtown on 4 and 5 September. The expo brings together South Africa’s greatest talents in performance, art and entertainment.

• Animal Farm

Make your way to the Animal Farm play at the Market Theatre which runs until 6 September. Animal farm is a South African adaptation with an all-female cast which started. The play is a South African adaptation of George Orwell’s novel. The play sightsees leadership, power and it aims to keep the audience on hold by playing between comedy (references to Nkandla’s fire pool) and deeply tragic moments (references to the Marikana massacre).

•Ladies day at Old Parks

Celebrate women’s month in style at Old Parktonian Sports Club at the annual ladies on 29 August at 3pm. You can also enjoy styling your way from drab to fab workshop with an interactive talk by a stylist and also newly launched clothing and jewellery range and a free portrait picture taken by a professional photographer. Ladies are welcome to bring their friends. Bookings are essential.
