Guide remembered
MELVILLE – Don Gair was an enthusiastic guide at the Melville Koppies Nature Reserve.
Wendy Carstens, Melville Koppies Nature Reserve chairperson, said the following about Don Gair, who passed away on 15 August:
“Don Gair was a regular Melville Koppies guide on the first Sunday of the month for seven years. Visitors who accompanied Don on his tours were privileged to have such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. Don was also a mid-week guide for school tours, easily coping with the wide-ranging focus of topics required by teachers and the age of the school kids – from Grade 1 to Matric.
“As he was also a professional photographer, he did some magical early morning photographic sessions at the Koppies in which he patiently taught techniques in a well-organised programme. Don will be sorely missed at Melville Koppies by all his friends and fellow guides.”
