NBA comes to Africa for the first time

In yet another entertainment first in South Africa, Gauteng’s award-winning gaming and entertainment complex, Montecasino recently hosted the first ever National Basketball Association (NBA) fan park in South Africa. This was the first time that the NBA had played a basketball game in Africa, and it took place on 1 August at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg.

The game featured a Team Africa vs. Team World format, and was played in support of the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Africa, SOS Children’s Villages Association of South Africa as well as the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

The game aired live in Africa on TV, culminating in Team World defeating Team Africa 101–97.
