De La Salle has Matric Dance

VICTORY PARK – De La Salle Holy Cross College pulls out all the stops in American-themed Matric Dance.

Empire State of Mind was the theme for this year’s De La Salle Holy Cross College matric dance. The school hall was transformed into a sophisticated interpretation of New York City, incorporating all the major American landmarks to make for an elegant and very enjoyable evening, at the school in Victory Park.

This year’s matrics had an incredible experience and it was a memorable occasion for all. As in the school tradition, the Grade 11s raised funds, chose a theme and decorated the hall themselves. The entire school turned out for ‘The Oscars’, to watch their matrics arrive and walk along the red carpet to great cheers.

The following evening the hall was used for the ‘Come Back, Give Back Dance’. Tickets were sold to the parents, and all money raised was donated to a chosen charity, along with blankets brought along by the guests.

“Our grateful thanks to the Grade 11s and the Mothers Committee for the wonderful evening enjoyed by all on Friday night. Our Matric Dance is such a special tradition in our school, enjoyed by the whole community in different ways,” said head girl Candice Elliott.
