GALLERY and VIDEO: Delta Environmental Centre turns 40

DELTA PARK – The Delta Park Environmental Centre saw British High Commissioner congratulate the centre.

Delta Environmental Centre in Delta Park celebrated their 40th birthday on 23 April.

The centre works with many teachers, pupils, students and visitors to educate them about the ecology and our environment. The late Norman Bloom founded the centre in 1975. The centre opened its doors to residents with great displays of their initiatives, namely Bird Life and Rand Water’s Water Wise Gardens.

The birthday brought esteemed British High Commissioner Judith Macgregor who shared her thoughts on the centre. “Delta reacts to the issue of global warming by reusing material in a sustainable principle. It has been amazing to see all of the training and hard work that has been done here to educate the public on our environment,” said Macgregor.

Kammy Young, innovation manager for sustainable division, Eskom said, “It is a great opportunity for the youth to create an innovative project that will help us fix the energy crisis that our country is facing.”

Delta Environmental Centre honorary chairman Don Macey said, “I never get tired of telling the story of the remarkable transformation of what was a sewage treatment plant… into what Delta is today.”

Continue listening to what Macey has to say:

“What you buy – including your clothes and food – escalates the destructive damage of the rising temperatures around our planet. Delta has great initiatives to help combat this issue and to light the pathway for others to join,” added Macgregor.
