The weekend is here and the City of Gold has something for everyone. Here is a list of places to have fun this weekend.

• Renegade Fridays

End the week on a high note on 17 April at the Renegade Junxion based in Randburg. The place will be dropping the beat in the loudest way.

Line-up: Raps, Mlo-Deep, Moss99, Mo-Cash, Masterkat, Teboho and Ammunixion.

Entrance is free.

• The Common Room: Mixing Business with Pleasure

Make your way to the Common Room on 18 April, and be part of what promises to be one of many great Saturdays. The Common Room is hosting its first Music Market and the place also offers an out-of-office vibe which is ideal for company brainstorming sessions or just a space to escape to, when you feel stuck in a rut.

• D-day Johannesburg 4.20 Johannesburg Street

Newtown’s Carfax is doing a bit of everything this weekend. Join them on 18 April as the Johannesburg community celebrates life.

The streets will be closed off, there will be live bands, an abundance of food stalls for the munchies, an exhibition and documentary screening plus two dance floors.

From 12pm expect live bands in the street and from 2pm you can expect reggae and again at 7pm there will be house, trance and techno pumping on dance floor two.

• Short and Sexy Saturday

With summer well on its way out, the Vacca Matta at Montecasino invites everyone to throw on those short and sexy numbers one last time as you party up a storm with a live performance from Justin Chalice on 18 April at 9pm.

Line-up: Twins on Decks, Chrizz Beatz, Keenan O, Maloo, Problem Roots, DJ Double D and JustChan.

Ladies free before 10pm, R80 before 11pm and R150 VIP all night.

• The Jazz Booth

What a better way to enjoy a Saturday afternoon than with a jazzy evening special? Join the Openroom in Greenside on 18 April from 6:30 pm. Expect live jazz, refreshing drinks and a relaxing afternoon. Grammy-winning Darryl Torr will be doing what he knows best for your entertainment.

It will also be streamed live to www.openroom.tv so tune in if you can’t make the show in person.

• I Is for Independence – Zim Independence Day

Come together as Africans and celebrate the great strides the continent has made and the music that has taken people through the times at Kitcherner’s Carvey Bar in Braamfontein on 18 April from 10am. Line-up: Brother Shabaaz, Plonk Plonk, Rushmo Jamz, Freedom Trio, DJ Budganoush, Lion Star Sound System, Miz Buttons, Freedom Trio, Kapulaz and Tha General. Entrance is payable at the door.

• Rooftop Yoga with Live DJ

Join Yoga Works on 18 April at the Shine Sudios in Braamfontein at 9am for a special rooftop yoga session with amazing view of the Nelson Mandela Bridge and the inner City of Joburg.

Get your weekend off to a splendid start with a fun and relaxing yoga session and afterwards roam around trendy Braamfontein. It’s all you need to distress after a long week and the perfect treat from you to you. This time around, they’re working with DJ Emma X who will be taking you on a journey through sound during your yoga session.

It’s R80 per person.

• Sundays at the Living Room faturing VDJ Jayesh

Sundays at the Living Room have grown into a gathering place for great music and good vibes. Make your way to Maboneng in Johannesburg on 19 April at 3pm. Go relax in a serene environment right in your city and enjoy tunes on offer while dancing. Line-up: VDJ Jayesh, Data Takashi, Slax vs Parallax and Toby One.

R50 gets you in.
