Smash-and-grab in Johannesburg

JOBURG – Operation ke Molao is hard at work in preventing smash-and-grab at intersections and freeways.

Motorist should be vigilant when driving at intersections and freeways.

The Department of Community Safety has recently identified Gauteng smash-and-grab hotsports, however, in an effort to prevent smash-and-grabs, Johannesburg Metro Police Department recently launched Operation ke Molao (its the law).

JMPD’s spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said since it was launched in February, Operation ke Molao has removed 261persons from intersections and freeways.

“The smash-and-grabbers and window washers were given a R300 fine,” Chief Supt Minnaar said.

“Beggars and blind people were taken to shelters by social services, while foreigners were being processed by the Department of Home Affairs.”
