Cupcakes of hope

JOBURG – To commemorate International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day, Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer created an informative infographic that will be shared at schools and offices.

Non-profit organisation Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer created an informative and helpful infographic that will be shared at schools and the community.

The infographic will help concerned parents to identify warning symptoms and the best course of action if they suspect that their children might have cancer.

Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer raises awareness about the early warning signs of childhood cancer and helps raise funds for children who are fighting the illness.

Through their Cupcakes of Hope events, volunteers, sponsors and bakers share their love for baking for this great cause, thus making the events the sweetest way to help.

The Rio Sol Charity Fundraiser, which was held at the Rio Sol Portuguese restaurant Vereeniging last year, was the very first fundraiser for Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer.

The event raised R5 000 in four weeks.

Since then, it has grown from strength to strength.

In 2012, Sandy Cipriano registered Cupcakes of Hope and they hosted South Africa’s first national Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer.

This is a completely community driven project. The project raises funds through their love of baking cupcakes.

Last year, National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer was held at 55 malls across South Africa and an astonishing amount of R1.2 million was raised.

“Cupcakes of Hope has been able to assist over 250 children since its inception. The funds raised go towards paying for their medical treatments, travelling costs, school fees, birthday celebrations and day-to-day expenses. We also conduct hospital visits and spoil the patients and staff with lovely cupcakes. It is great to see the smiles on children’s faces when they see a cupcake,” says Cipriano.

Cupcakes of hope donated to 15 different charities including Choc, Cansa, TLC, The Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital Trust and The Sunflower Fund.

Spread the cupcake love this February by getting your school or company involved.

Become a Cupcake Angel by hosting your own ‘Party of Hope’. This could be a fun way to create awareness and to help raise funds for children with cancer.

Interested schools and businesses can register to receive a free angel party pack which includes leaflets, badges and baking cups.
