HURSTHILL – The Grow Leadership Academy officially kicks off at Hursthill to empower the community with free education.

RLabs Jozi is giving back to the community through education.

Community members across Johannesburg have an opportunity to be part of the free education at the Grow Leadership Academy based in Hurtsthill.

Since its inception in 2011, the RLab Jozi has impacted thousands of unemployed individuals and has managed to uplift the communities.

“We are here to serve our community by offering free services and education using technology and innovation as a tool, ” said RLab Jozi ‘s Carmen Samb

“We also strive to at least give the student community member a free meal on their course days. The teachers are people who volunteer their skills and time to help empower the local community,” said Samb.

She said the team is passionate about passing on knowledge and important life skills to those willing to learn.

“We solve complex problems using simple and original solutions. We offer a range of courses to the community in the surrounding areas that run throughout the year – these were selected to service the needs of the community using innovative ideas, technology and creative teaching methods,” she said.

The courses include digital awareness such as various social media platforms and the ability to work on the Microsoft Suite, French as a foreign language has also been introduced to the community with weekly classes for adults and children.

Other classes include accounting, mathematics, hospitality, filming and beauty school.

Registration and open days are on 14 and 21 February. Classes commence on 7 March.
