‘Big Brother Mzansi’ is back

LINDEN – 'Big Brother Mzansi' will be hosting auditions for season two of one of the most-watched reality shows in South Africa.

Biggie is ready to play, are you? If you think you have what it takes to be on TV 24 hours a day, seven days a week for 56 days, then this competition is for you.

Big Brother Mzansi is back for season two, and the producers are looking for housemates.

“Big brother Mzansi allows us as a channel to tap our audience’s engagement – specifically in the social networking space. It’s a double-win for our viewers – great viewing today drives great viewing in the future. This show is an entertainment dream, packed with action, drama, romance and humour,” said Nkateko Mabaso, director of Local Interest Channels at M-Net.

To qualify to be one of the participants, you need to be a citizen or a legal resident of South Africa and aged 21 or older as of 1 January.

Auditions will take place simultaneously in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg on Saturday, 31 January and Sunday, 1 February.

Audition venues:

Durban, BAT Centre (45 Maritime Place)

Cape Town at the Cape Town Lodge (101 Buitengracht Street)

Johannesburg at The Pyramid Venue in Eloff Street.

Registration starts at 8am and closes at 3pm on both audition days.

The auditions are on a first come first served basis, and you must bring a valid South African ID document with you.

“If you are wondering what the prize money is, the answer is that it won’t be less than R1 million, and it could be as high as a mouthwatering R2 million. That’s all Biggie is saying for now,” said Mabaso.

As always, there is a twist. This year you can either audition as an individual, or with a partner.

According to Mabaso, “entrants can pair up with anyone… your brother, sister, cousin, boyfriend, girlfriend, neighbour, gym buddy, golf partner, work mate, anyone you want, as long as they meet the entry requirements and want to participate.”

Big Brother Mzansi 2 starts on 29 March on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) running for 56 days until the finale in May.

The show will be filmed at Red Pepper Studios in Linden.

The first season of the show saw beloved spaza shop owner Mandla Hlatshwayo walk away with fame, fortune and romance.
