An elite educator right around the corner

RUIMSIG – Monash COO is passionate about higher education and serves on the board of several elite institutions.

Nicolene Murdoch is passionate about education and gained outstanding success as lecturer and academic researcher.

The Chief Operating Officer at Monash University in Ruimsig has an impressive list of accolades under her belt and serves as president of the South African Association for Institutional Research.

Murdoch obtained her BA (Ed) (cum laude) and Human Resources Development (Hons) at the now University of Johannesburg. In 2001, she completed her research master’s dissertation (MPhil)(cum laude) in adult education.

As a student of life and academics, Murdoch has published articles and contribute book chapters in the fields of higher education management and quality assurance. She sits on the board at Unlimited, an NGO that aims to mobilise resources to support students, educators and parents bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace.

“I have been granted incredible opportunities to complete my education and research studies at the University of Georgia [USA] and I felt it was my responsibility to take my experiences abroad and merge them with our private higher education.”

She is currently finalising her doctorate in higher education management at the University of Liverpool in the UK, dealing with the government in private higher education in South Africa.

The COO of Monash is not all work and no play, “I am a musician at heart. In my spare time I love to sing, play guitar, clarinet, piano and now I have just learned the sax,” she concluded with a laugh.
