A different Secret Santa

RANDBURG – Lighthouse Baby Shelter has a very special Secret Santa this year.

Secret Santa has become quite popular in the corporate world, but Bernadette de Boucherville and her colleague Susan Armstrong have decided to do it a little differently this year.

Instead of buying gifts for each other they decided to rather use the money to help children in need at the Lighthouse Baby Shelter in Northwold. “We have had such a lovely response, between the two of us sending emails and making calls we now have a gift for each child that has been sponsored by friends and work colleagues. We have also contacted Pampers and have submitted all relevant documentation to get some nappies sponsored,” said De Boucherville.

The shelter is home to 20 children, ranging from 15 months up to nine years old and does not receive any financial assistance from government.

De Boucherville will also be hosting a Christmas party for the children on 8 December at the shelter. “If you would like to make any donations from the wish list please feel free to contact me.”
