Eighties and ’90s Pop Culture is rampant in our lives today, but when it comes to music, which decade rocked our world the most? The challenge is on.

Readers stand a chance to win tickets this festive season to watch a thrilling Barnyard show at Emperor’s Palace, courtesy of Banyard Cresta.

Readers are required to like the Northcliff Melville Times Facebook Page, follow @NewsNMT on twitter send us their favourite ’80s or ’90s song via any of these social networks.

The show winners will enjoy an ’80s vs ’90s show, which is a fun look at both decades and promises to be a musical roller coaster for the audience.

The talented cast will revive songs from both decades, together with two hilarious hosts who are each fanatical about their favourite era.

The ’80s saw the emergence of new wave and electronic pop, the ’90s experienced grunge and hip-hop music, while rock music remained popular in both decades.

The show will start off with male versus female pop stars. It will then move on to the one-hit wonders with ’80s hits like I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight and 99 Red Balloons.

An advantage that the ’90s have is the mega ballads that ruled the airwaves, such as Hero by Mariah Careya and I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston. The ’80s will strike back with Don’t Stop Believing by Journey, Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler and Up Where We Belong by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes.

The competition is expected to get hotter when songs from the movies are challenged with everything from Dirty Dancing, Footloose and Danger Zone from the eighties, to Men in Black, Circle of Life and Gangsta’s Paradise from the ’90s.
