Let them Grow celebrates 10 years in style

NORTHCLIFF– Let them grow pupils enjoyed time on the field and a scrumptious vanilla-and- chocolate cake in celebration of the school’s 10th birthday.

Let them Grow private baby day-care centre celebrated their 10th birthday on 15 October.

“I bought this house many years ago, because it was so big and I have only one child so we decided to have a nursery,” says owner Marinda Swart.

The children were excited as they continually sang Happy birthday to their beloved school.

“It’s nice to be here and I love my teachers, and I love playing because it is our birthday,” says Zinhle Mdluli.

Mdluli’s best friend Nikitah Reeks feels the same way.

“My school is fun and I love eating cake…the bubbles are also fun,” comments Reeks enthusiastically.

For their 10th birthday, the children were served with a delicious chocolate-and-vanilla cake.

After playing with some bubbles on the field, the pupils carried 10 balloons with birthday messages from their teachers and family.

Swart and her mother managed the nursery which initially had two teachers and baby rooms. In 10 years, the centre has grown till grade R and now boasts 35 pupils.

“ We always hear of horrendous stories that happen at day-care centres and we wanted to give parents piece of mind, knowing that children have love, care and education were they leave them each morning,” comments Swart.

Let them Grow has qualified staff that concentrates on educating the children.

“We have numerous ways of teaching children and they learn without even knowing that they are learning,” she says.

According to Swart, one of their most interesting subjects is mathematics. “ They learn how to count, for example, through our tuck-shop where they have to say what they want, and we tell them how much it costs and they have to count R1 coins that we provide for them to the value of what they want to buy,” adds Swart.

Swart hopes to open a primary school in the near future.
