Music is her life

GREENSIDE - You're 24 and your debut single is a thumping hit. What to do now? Linden's Carli J Myers is just enjoying the ride.

Lindenite Carli J Myers’ (24) debut single Clutch is rocketing up the local billboard charts.

The songs’s thumping bassline combined with Myers’ smoky voice is clearly a recipe for success.

Myers, nursing a cappuccino in Greenside’s Doppio Zero, says she’s overwhelmed by the positive response her first musical venture has garnered.

“It’s been amazing,” she says.

“I recorded it with Crighton Goodwill (award-winning Sama producer) and Benji Moodley. I’m so honoured to have worked with them. Because of them the production for the single is top class, great quality.”

Myers is bubbly, humble and beautiful, and music is her passion.

“I’ve been singing since I was very young, and I’ve always wanted to pursue music and dance,” she says.

“Music is so diverse, it relates to everyone. Everyone can relate to it, I use it to communicate with people and connect with them.”

Myers studied the Eve Boswell method of singing at Damelin College for what she calls a ‘gap year’ after completing her Matric year at King David Victory Park. She’s currently studying Organisational Psychology at the University of Johannesburg.

She says her phenomenal family and support system keep her grounded, and always will.

“Of course I dream of big stardom and rocking out stadiums,” she laughs.

“It’s the ultimate goal, and the stage is my happy place. But really, as long as I get to sing and dance and be outdoors as much as possible, I’m happy.”

Fans of her catchy first single can rest assured that her first album is on the way.

Meanwhile, Clutch can be purchased on Itunes, and Myers and her band Pacawa will be performing at a club near you. To see where they’re performing visit their Facebook site : https://www.facebook.com/pacawaacoustic.
