Playground now open

MELVILLE - The playground at Faan Smit Park is officially open to the public, while the second phase of the 27 Boxes development progresses.

We last reported on the new development at Faan Smit Park in the article Mixed Feelings, in February.

Since then, the park has become a hive of activity as the new mixed retail space called 27 Boxes Centre progesses.

Project developer Arthur Blake afforded us access to the site to assess for ourselves whether the work that has been undertaken on the site is above board.

He plans to turn the park into a mixed urban development which includes various retail outlets, a play area for children, some green space and multi-storey parking.

Retail space will be occupied by delis, microbreweries, artists, coffee, flower and gift shops.

Concerned and curious readers are advised to view the plans for the eclectic retail space for themselves. These are available from IT Corner and CafĂ© de la Creme in 7th Street, and Clyde’s Antiques in 4th Avenue.
