ADAM add a new member

There are exciting things happening for Afrikaans pop group ADAM.

In January they introduced their new member, Kyle Grant, a former Northcliff High School pupil, and he immediately found his groove with the popular heartthrobs.

The group first hit the music scene in 2011 and proved that the market wanted more of them when they won a Ghoema award as best new group in the Afrikaans music industry.

“The dynamics within a group is very important and we are very satisfied with our choice in Kyle as our new member,” said group member Hugo Ludik.

Original band members Ludik and Reynardt Hugo began searching for a third member and approached Grant as Hugo had worked with him in the past and thought that he was a perfect match. Unfortunately, Grant had just begun an overseas tour with the High School Musical production and was not immediately available.

However, when an opportunity arrived at a later stage, Grant jumped at the opportunity to join the band. He describes the first time he sang with Reynardt and Hugo as a “holy moment”, especially because their voices blended together so well.

Grant has already proved himself as an outstanding actor, singer and dancer in stage productions such as Chess – The Musical, Sunset Boulevard, Hairspray, Dirty Dancing, and Stuur Groete aan Mannetjies Roux. He also played the role of Schalk in the soapie Egoli.

An exciting year awaits this group. They are currently writing songs for their third album due out later this year. They will be opening for world famous group Air Supply when they embark on a South African tour later in the year.

“When we started this dream most people shot us down and said there is no place in the Afrikaans music industry for a group like us,” said Reynardt. “We are very blessed that they were all wrong. Our mission from the beginning was to make quality Afrikaans music. I think we managed to pull it off.”
