“Hey now, hey now, now…”

CRESTA - SA's own rock legends celebrate the darker side of the 80s.

The Barnyard Theatre at Cresta Shopping Center rocked the audience's socks off on 15 September.

The show, titled “Hey now, hey now”, was hosted by drumming legend Danny De Wet and themed to celebrate the darker side of the '80s.

Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Violent Femmes and The Smiths were some of the contemporary and alternative bands the outfit covered.

The Cure mainstreamed through the set however, and Jon Preston's uncanny impression of Robert Smith gave the show an even darker twist. David Beretta Owens' version of 'Butterfly on a wheel', originally done by The Mission, had the audience mesmerised.

Other musicians to grace the stage were Martin 'Thor' Dugdale, guitarist extraordinaire, who is currently completing his final year of his H B Mus Music Degree, and the eccentric Jay 'skinny jean' Wilton, composer and vocalist for The Cavalier.

The show will now be moving on to Barnyard Theatres in Boksburg on 22 September, Rivonia on the 25 September and Parkview on the 29 September. To book online, go to www.barnyardtheatres.co.za.
