WATCH: Yet another fire in the Johannesburg CBD

Another day, another building on fire in the Johannesburg CBD.

A fire broke out today at the South African Revenue Service (SARS) building on Rissik Street in the Johannesburg CBD at around 14:30.

The cause of the fire is still unknown but it is thought to be related to the building’s generator.

The building has been evacuated and the fire has been contained.

No injuries have been reported.

This is the latest fire to have plagued the Johannesburg CBD. On August 31, a fire broke out in the early morning hours at the corner of Albert and Delvers streets in the Johannesburg CBD. The fire claimed 77 lives.

On September 16, a fire broke out at the Metro Centre in the CBD. The fire resulted in the evacuation of the building due to the unstable nature of the transformers.

The Executive Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda, the speaker of council and the city manager’s office have all been temporarily relocated out of the Metro Centre while the complete revamp of the building occurs.

Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
