Let’s get to know Jodie Forsyth

The Northcliff resident gives us the details on what drives her and why it comes so easy to her to help others.

Jodie Forsyth is living a life she lovingly designed for herself. From venturing into the entrepreneurial space and starting her own business, to making sure those around her always get the best of her at no cost to herself.

This Northcliff resident shares on what makes her quintessentially Jodie, an irreplaceable force in the lives of those who know her.

One of the more courageous things she has done in her life is leave a well-paying corporate job that came with all the great benefits just to start something of her own. A decision she says she prayed hard about and knew it was the right one for her. In her younger years her goals were centred around her work life. ”My biggest one was to be a finalist in the CEO Most Influential Business in Women Awards,” she said.

But now that she is in a different season in her life, her goals now centre around being the best wife and mother to her two children. “I want to be there for all which obviously is not always possible but having my own business has allowed me to be there for most of it.”

A self-professed ‘sports mom’ Jodie gushed about the sport activities her children, Kendra and Ryden, get up to. From her daughter being an equestrian to her son being a young football star in the making, “My kids are growing fast and I don’t want to miss anything.”

Though life can generally be blissful, it is not without its challenges too. As Jodie sees it, it is how we respond to them that counts. A challenge she faced was a parting of ways with a business partner who she had become close friends with. “It has been two years already, and I still don’t have the closure I need from her but that’s life – we all deal with challenges differently.”

Challenges only last for so long in her life as she makes sure to fill her time doing what brings her joy – which is helping people in her community. As her love language is giving, she prides herself in being able to assist at her daughter’s high school within its parents association as well as through the school’s care team. “I get goose bumps every time a message comes through to help someone in need – whether it be in the school community, teacher or learner that needs help. Its amazing how we all rally together and we are there as a team to help and give.”

Asked how she hopes she impacts her community, Jodie said she is an ordinary neighbour who is also known as a busy body. She manages the Northcliff High equestrian team, is chairperson of her complex, runs her own business, and her two children keep her busy and although she does a lot, she wouldn’t have it any other way. She encourages fellow mothers not to be scared to ask for help. “Us mothers are all dealing with the same things most of the time, so just ask a family member, neighbour or school mom to help – even if just to fetch your child on the way to school or a drop-off on the way from a sports game; this helps us mothers more than you know.”
