Grab your popcorn and listen to these story times on YouTube

'I release content because I believe it to be authentic, and I believe that people will connect with it.'

My name is Ntobeko Walaza, a TikTok and YouTube content creator.

I am 19 years old. I come from a family of amazing black women and my upbringing was very interesting, in a good way. If I were to describe myself, I would most definitely say I am a hardworking, passionate, goal-driven, and intelligent person. I am enrolled at the University of the Witwatersrand, studying for a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree in biomedical science.

My passion for content creation knows no bounds and I have been told that I have the potential to be one of the biggest content creators in South Africa. I was never really limited when it came to pursuing my passion, so I knew from a very young age that I belonged in the content-creation space. I am the only boy at home, and that has allowed me to express my individuality and personality fully, as I have never had to copy anyone.

In essence, I value my creativity, family, and friendships; that’s where I draw my inspiration from. My content is a blend of my personality and acting skills in a comedic manner. I love making people laugh; that is my purpose on earth. So to sum it up, Ntobeko Walaza is an emerging content creator and a well-rounded soul.

I started creating content in 2016. It all began on Instagram where I would post pictures of myself consistently, but at the time, I didn’t view it as content creation because I was young and having fun. I think I only started acknowledging it in 2019 when I created my YouTube channel and people got exposed to my personality.

Creating content is difficult, and people (the audience or consumers of it) tend to underestimate that. You have to be in the right headspace to fully execute what you have in mind. Plus, your mood also determines how far you’re willing to go with creating content.

Therefore, it is hard, especially when you’re just starting and finding your feet in the space. You’ll either compare yourself to other creators or just be demotivated by the subjectively ‘poor’ performance of your content, which shouldn’t be the case. Enjoy what you do, and the numbers will come in organically.

My content is very fluid, and I draw inspiration from real-life occurrences. What I put out is something that I know people will relate to because it’s authentic. That’s why I chose to stick to being myself and share my life with others. When you do that, it won’t even feel like you have to come up with something to put out; you just know what to give to people, and they’ll appreciate it at any time.

I started blowing up on social media last year, in 2022. I posted a video on TikTok spontaneously about university life and how there’s always something due for submission. The video went viral. Subsequently, my audience grew, and I managed to create a couple of viral videos.

Khanyisa Jaceni, who is also a very famous and talented content creator, inspires me to create more content. Before I could even post on TikTok, I would watch her videos about pursuing your dreams and not caring about other people’s thoughts. Khanyisa is so comfortable and content in her being, and that inspired me so much because she created a positive space for people like me who thought our passions were so farfetched.

I see myself as a successful content creator on TikTok and YouTube, particularly YouTube. I also see myself growing, inspiring people, finally tapping into my full potential, being in spaces that will benefit my career, working with amazing brands, and most importantly, expanding the Ntobeko Walaza brand. Also, 100 000 subscribers on YouTube wouldn’t hurt.

I want to know myself as a successful and self-made content creator, as a Youtuber, TikToker, social media personality, and someone who knew what they wanted, went after it, and never gave up. To be honest, I am still trying to establish that balance, but with that being the case, I can confidently say that content creation takes priority.

I would like to thank everyone who keeps supporting me and showing up for me. I appreciate it, and it genuinely means a lot to me. With that being said, please don’t stop. We are still yet to do incredible things. May we continue to grow as the CHOMI community. I love you guys. Below is the link to my TikTok video.
