Roosevelt takes the victory

It was a difficult and challenging game between the two teams.

It was a great day at the Pirates Rugby Club when Roosevelt High School’s U14s played with Reddam High School for the Pirates B league rugby championship. Emotions were high, war cries were being sung across the field by learners supporting their team as they played for the championship.

Both schools have been preparing for the championship for weeks and it was finally the day to show their capabilities. The stadium was full of people celebrating and singing cry wares when Roosevelt High won against Reddam High 35-05.

“I am glad that we won, I feel like I’ve accomplished something with the team because this is their first derby, they haven’t played rugby in their lives ever, and to see them winning. The whole league feels like we accomplished something big,” said coach Christo Swart.

This year`s derby was a challenging one for both teams as they fought to win the league. “I glad that the boys played, and they brought their A-game and fortunately we won and took the cup,” said the Roosevelt High School captain, Abongwe Dikana after the match.
