Teachers prepare for rainy days at Laerskool Louw Geldenhuys

The programme will help teachers to know what to do in times of medical emergency at the school.

The Basic First Aid training course offered to teachers at Laerskool Louw Geldenhuys is an initiative to better equip them to ensure the safety and well-being of their learners.

It provides them with valuable life-saving skills and knowledge to deal with any emergency situation that might arise at school and also outside of school.

” It is reassuring to know that our educators are taking proactive steps to ensure the safety of our children while they are in their care,”
said Tina Calitz, one of the teachers at the school.

“We are hoping to equip our educators with fresh knowledge on what to do in any emergency. We have done this type of training various times before. Educators also need to gather experience and what a great way to earn it and gain valuable skills.”

The course covers a range of topics, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), wound care, and dealing with fractures and sprains. Teachers are also taught how to handle allergic reactions, seizures, and other medical emergencies that may occur in the classroom.

Teachers also write tests so that they can receive certificates stating that they have passed the Basic First Aid training and they are ready to assist. Training takes part every Friday at the school.
