Drama credited with boosting learners confidence

From socialising with friends he might not have otherwise met, to discovering his voice, the gifts of drama as a subject at school are unending.

Garrin Solomons is a young man who has developed a love of drama which he says benefits him in several ways.

Here is what he had to say:

I love drama and singing and am not too bad at dancing either, I have discovered.

Through drama at school, I have become close to so many people that I wouldn’t have normally hung out with, so that is cool.

I am currently in a school production, Me and my Girl as an extra but am loving it. I am dancing and singing.

Drama definitely helps with my confidence as I never used to be able to sing in front of people. I recently stood up in the front of my church to sing and it was great.

Talking about how this year is going, I must say Grade 11 is tough and it’s a big change from last year. I need to work hard but I’ve been doing decently, I think.

It’s a challenge for sure and a big jump in terms of the volume of work we have to do, but I am looking forward to the rest of the year and to working hard.
