De La Salle Holy Cross College wins major cricket festival
The team overcame some challenging weather conditions but ultimately worked as team to come out on top.
De La Salle Holy Cross College first cricket team won a recently held cricket festival held at Pirates Club.
The festival, which spanned two days, was organised by Catholic Schools Office Gauteng and other schools that participated in the tournament were Marist Brothers’ Linmeyer, Sacred Heart and St Benedict’s College.
Spectators were treated to an exciting final match played between De La Salle and Marist Brothers’ Linmeyer, the respective winners of their divisions, and had everyone on the edges of their seats with De La Salle needing four runs off the final three balls to win the tournament.
Daniel Wundram, the team’s captain, hoped the season would ‘bring plenty of opportunities to grow as a team and to prove ourselves against the teams that have challenged us in the past’.
Wundram said the tournament was one of these opportunities and that some challenging games and inclement weather conditions added interest and forced the team to work together to maintain their positive attitude and belief in their abilities.
The team was very proud to bring home the shield and was grateful to all involved in organising the tournament.
