It is not often that a school can claim to have initiated an annual variety concert in the early 1990s and the event still runs to this day, every year. That is the case for Northcliff High.

The school is synonymous with birthing young musical and artistic talent as it has one of the most famous drama departments in South Africa based on the large scale and quality of its annual major production. So it is not all that surprising that the school’s ‘other’ production, Talent Showcase, has also grown into such a hit.

Talent Showcase was a three-day variety concert that is put on by the learners and staff in the first term of every year. The acts are, almost all, directly developed and choreographed by the learners, and the event is intended as a fundraising opportunity for the Debs and Squires department. It also helps to raise funds for the school’s major production.

This year was one of the best shows yet. The acts included live bands, dancers, singers, and, musicians across various genres and performed by young artists across every grade in the school. It was hosted by three young MCs who were sharp, witty, and entertaining.
