Northcliff High learners raise R1 222 877 for school charity
The annual Debs & Squires ball was held to mark the end of the fundraising campaign and to reward the top fundraising pupils.
Northcliff High School’s charity, Debs (Debutante) and Squires held its annual ball recently to celebrate funds raised by students.
This year, 106 learners were in attendance to celebrate R1 222 877.10 being raised which will be used to support school activities, assist underprivileged learners and help external charities.
Jo Coetzer, chair of the charity said, “The learners, staff, and guests were dressed to the nines at Usambara Lodge where pupils were presented to the headmaster Walter Essex-Clark on arrival in a lovely ceremony.”

This year, the top 13 fundraising students were awarded a prize for their contributions to the fundraising efforts.
“Chloe Diedericks-Boudouris brought in the highest individual amount of R91 717169 which is a fantastic achievement,” said Coetzer.
The other 12 are, Kirtana Maharaj, Madison Scorgie, Cor Muller, Frank Devenish, Connor Pace, Kriya Moodley, Paige Nourse, Taren Hoock, Josephine Baxter, Angelica Van Wyk and Kaitlyn Bairstow.

Since 2008 the students have also voted for their peers who they feel showed the most character and spirit during the year’s fundraising efforts which included arranging school events, selling goods like flower bulbs, and hosting markets. This year the Pfister Trophy was awarded to Frank Devenish.
The Debs and Squires committee is made up of staff and parents who work tirelessly year-round to uplift and support the school and its broader community.
