Bagpipes tune of success for De La Salle Holy Cross College
The school's combined pipe band recently placed second overall in the South African Pipe Band Championships.
The De La Salle Holy Cross College Combined Pipe Band placed second overall in the recently held South African Pipe Band Championships.
The final pipe band contest of the 2022 season took place on July 30 at Benoni Northerns Sports Club.
The band competed in the Grade 4 section and played two sets, placing second and third and second overall for the day.
As a brand new group, the band was said to have done exceptionally well throughout the season. The school’s Dot Montgomery thanked all the new and experienced pipers and drummers who committed time and energy to re-building the band.
“Thank you to parents, supporters of the band and teachers who attend rehearsals and gatherings and a special thanks go to our tutors Joshua Hogg and Willem Theron, you are all valued.”
