Diana documentary embraces ‘homeless’ reality at screening in Johannesburg.

Useful community connections formed through screening of documentary

Within sight of the birthday anniversary of Diana, Princess of Wales, on July 1, the Historic Documentary Film Society recently hosted a screening of Diana, Queen of Hearts.

Narrated by acclaimed filmmaker, Sir Richard Attenborough, who knew the princess well, rare footage and interviews served to introduce multiple causes the princess embraced, including the plight of the homeless.

Diana would often take her young sons out onto the streets at night to view ‘first hand’ the reality of homelessness.

Mandla Nkosi of Johannesburg Homeless Network attended the screening held at the Ditsong Museum of Military History in Saxonwold and ‘hopes the two organisations can collaborate in the future’.

On his recent 40th birthday, Prince William pledged to uphold his mother’s focus on ‘homeless’ victims.
