Former learner celebrated for her achievements in and after high school

AUCKLAND PARK – University of Pretoria student looks back on her preparatory school days and experiences.

Auckland Park Preparatory School invited over their former learner Shonisani Maivha after she had achieved a bachelor pass and two distinctions in the National Senior Certificate exams for 2021 for a special assembly.

The school paraded her in front of their current learners for her non-stop commitment to being the best she can be in her academics and extra murals.

Shonisani was welcomed back to the school and made a profound impact on all, sharing her story, both struggles and achievements, and encouraging all girls to do their best.

She also thanked her past teachers for the wonderful foundation which they had secured for her journey through school and beyond. Shonisani emphasised that she had experienced such love, care and an amazing sense of community at this special little school.

Shonisani attended the school from Grade 0 to Grade 7 and was also a talented hockey player making the provincial squad.

This resulted in her being awarded a sports scholarship from St Andrew’s School for Girls for her high school years.

She is also the daughter of one of the school’s service staff members Neslie Mahuma.

Headmistress Brenda Howden said, “This is an outstanding achievement, and we are all so proud of our past learner, Shoni. We wish Shoni the very best as she goes on to achieve new goals at the University of Pretoria.”
