Starting on 9 March 2021, students gathered to garner better financial support, this continues the ongoing campaign #FeesMustFall from 2015-16.

Norwood police confirmed that the victim was not a student while others suggest that he was. This is still speculation. What has been confirmed by Netcare 911, is that the victim was travelling either to or from a doctor and was declared deceased on scene.
