De La Salle Holy Cross College creates a fruit rainbow

JOBURG – The fruit rainbow consisted of all the fruits one could think of, from bananas to apples, pineapples to oranges and, all the fun fruits in between.

De La Salle Holy Cross College recently celebrated the beginning of the Lasallian Month of Peace which takes place from 21 September to 21 October.

A highlight of the day’s celebrations at the Junior School was the creation of a ‘fruit rainbow’.

The school explained the children brought fruit to school to make up the rainbow and, as part of the school’s outreach programme, all fruit was donated to the St Vincent de Paul Society. The rainbow was symbolic of peace, diversity and our country’s beautiful rainbow nation. To quote Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, “The rainbow is a sign of prosperity. We want peace, prosperity and justice and we can have it when all the people of God, the rainbow people of God, work together.”
