Two house robbery suspects arrested after Linden robbery

LINDEN – The two suspects had initially escaped in an unidentified getaway vehicle used in the alleged crime.

Members of a private security company and the Linden police arrested two suspects after they allegedly tried to rob a house on 12th Street in Linden just after midday on 21 July.

The victim was accosted by four armed men when she left her front door to access her car in the garage.”The suspects grabbed her by the neck and she immediately screamed for help,” said Linden Police Station’s Captain Alex Vermaak.A person inside the house saw the commotion and immediately pressed the panic button to alert their security company.”ADT Security responded quickly to the scene and were able to capture two suspects. Unfortunately, the other two suspects got away,” said Vermaak.

The two suspects escaped in an unidentified getaway vehicle used in the alleged crime. Vermaak continued, “The two arrested suspects are in their mid-twenties and were detained for attempted house robbery at Linden Police Station. We are also investigating their ties to other housebreakings and robberies in the area. “Fortunately, there were no injuries to the victim. An incident like this shows how important it is to have a fitted and operational alarm system on your property. If the alarm system was not operational, the situation could have been a whole lot worse.”

He added that as crimes such as these continued to be a problem in their policing area, he encouraged all residents to make sure that there alarm systems were up and running, and were connected to a private security company. Vermaak further encouraged residents to be vigilant of criminals when leaving their premises.
