Melville based rap duo release first major single

MELVILLE – If you like amapiano, kwaito, gqom and rap, this song might be for you.


They’re hot, they’re new and they’re rising up the ranks to cement themselves in the South African music industry.

The Melville-based hip-hop duo Mseti vs Mafereza recently released their single #KonkeNemali. The song, which was released towards the end of 2019, will be leading the way for Mseti vs Mafereza as they prepare to release a project. Mafereza, real name Tshepang Mokgothu said, “We are aiming to take over the industry after dropping our first radio single #KonkeNemali taken from our up-and-coming project.”

The two are no strangers to the industry with Mseti, real name Sandile Ndunakazi, having worked with the likes of MarazA, Emtee and Mashayabhuqekamamba as a songwriter, stylist, artist manager and recording artist. Mafereza takes inspiration from having witnessed stars such as MarazA and Zingah create smash hits while also taking tips and lessons from the likes of AKA, Cassper, Khuli Chana and Kwesta.

The duo is independent and aims to grow their following with their irresistible music as they will be touring the country in due time. They described the song and their music generally as, “A sound which is refreshing and can accommodate everyone from kids to adults. No matter which of the above genre you like, you will enjoy this music.”

The rap pair believe that their style of hip-hop will be a refreshing experience to all due to its uniqueness and rise. Mseti said, “We are using a new style in our music which was introduced by MarazA called Sfanaflow. We rap in Sfanakalo, a vernacular that is known mostly in Durban and Gauteng by the miners.”

He added that it includes the usage of isiZulu and Setswana and fuses the sounds of amapiano, kwaito, gqom and rap.
