Twitter reacts: Emergency ward at Helen Joseph Hospital floods

ROSSMORE – Patients had to be moved to other wards because of the heavy floods that entered the emergency ward of the hospital.


Helen Joseph Academic Hospital in Rossmore was left flooded today (8 February) following the heavy rainfall that poured in Johannesburg.

This is said to be because of the blocked drainage system at the academic hospital.

Incoming patients had to be diverted to other nearby hospitals and the patients already in the hospital had to be moved to other wards within the hospital for their safety.

The Gauteng Department of Health has however confirmed that everything is back to normal at the hospital. “We commend the efforts of the team at Helen Joseph Hospital, for speedily dealing with the flooding from the heavy rains since last night. The Accident and Emergency Unit has been cleared of the water.”
