Greenside Primary is committed to making upgrades to their school

GREENSIDE – Greenside Primary has happily received donations which help further their goal to give the school body and community members something to be proud of.

Greenside Primary School has been nestled in-between the heart of the suburb for just under eight decades and has undergone some upgrades in the last couple of months.

The primary school boasted a replacement of dusty, sneeze-inducing gravel with golf green astroturf that accommodates picnics, soccer games and playful-wrestling perfectly suited for foundation phase learners.

The astroturf comes after head of the parent’s association Nadia da Costa tirelessly compared quotations to revamp the sandy playground when Belgotex came to the rescue. Jean Lindeque met with da Costa and initially promised to better the two quotes she had found and ended up facilitating a partial donation for the school on behalf of directors Timothy Smith and Anthony Ollson. The company has also assisted in connecting the school with other companies which have subsequently made more donations to the school.

The school has subsequently received donations of 10 rugs for classrooms from Belgotex on 12 July as well as new wooden floors which were installed during the school holidays in collaboration with Caress Flooring.

Da Costa lit up while she recollected the sequence of events which led to the upgrades to be made at the school, which turns 80 next year. She noted with determination that her dream to revamp the school is ‘far from over’ and looked forward to the opportunity to continue the inspired action.

The pleased mom of a Grade 5 learner mused that she has planned to improve the fencing around the school to suit the government’s mandated standards for schools next.
