Kindness like Confetti welcomes Claire Duvel

LINDEN – The organisation's supporters came together on 22 May to say farewell to Alyson Samson and welcome Claire Duvel.

Kindness Like Confetti hosted a fundraiser dinner to say farewell to the founder of the organisation, Alyson Samson, who will be relocating overseas and to welcome Claire Duvel who will take over the reins. The dinner was hosted at Satori Family Restaurant.

Samson said, “Claire has been involved in charity work for many years and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge with her to Kindness Like Confetti. I trust that you will all continue to support our all projects as you have done over the past five years.”

Duvel will still be involved in the main projects but with some changes:

  • The sanitary pad project will be run by Jenny Laas known as ‘The Pad Princess’ which focuses on distributing pads to schoolgirls and young women in need to help keep them in school.
  • The Joseph Jersey Project will continue as is, under the leadership of Duvel and Lorraine Harvey.
  • The organisation’s feeding schemes which take place in Linden on Monday nights weekly will continue as before.
  • Project Uplift, the bra project, will continue as before in conjunction with Rebecca Kemp Pogir and The Hakuna Matata House. The ladies will continue to collect and hand over bras and underwear to Zabra AfreeBra Initiative for distribution.

Samson’s Linden home will no longer service as a drop-off point. The organisation will now use the help of Gonk or Classic Frames, both on 4th Avenue in Linden. Duvel’s home is also still available and she can be contacted to arrange a suitable time for a drop-off.

Samson expressed her gratitude, “I have loved my journey with Kindness Like Confetti, from the very first project right up until the last. I have learnt so much, grown so much and leave with a grateful heart filled with love – knowing that together, we have touched thousands of lives. I am so grateful to our supporters and to the directors of Kindness Like Confetti for helping us achieve so much. My family have helped me so much along the way. They’ve loved and supported me through all the trials and tribulations and I am eternally grateful.”

Samson will remain a director of Kindness Like Confetti and will keep her finger on the pulse staying in touch with Duvel and the other directors regularly. “I wish her everything of the best and am so happy to have found another ‘Duracell bunny’ to take over the reins of something so close to my heart and something that has become part of me.”
