Casa Do Sol hosts line dance fundraiser to raise much-needed funds

LINDEN – The friends of Casa Do Sol School got to together to dance and raise funds for the school.


LINDEN – Casa Do Sol School hosted a successful line dance jamboree with the support of their community.

Imagine a school hall, draped in red and white decorations, filled with people in matching outfits, all line dancing to like Don’t Break My Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus with smiles on their faces. This was exactly what you could’ve witnessed at Casa Do Sol as they hosted a line dance fun day. The event, which was hosted in partnership with and supported by Rainbow Line Dancers aimed at raising the much-needed funds to help support the school for learners with special educational needs.

Attendees dance like nobody is watching at Casa Do Sol’s line dancing fundraiser.

The numbers in attendance on the day surpassed what the organisers had expected, which overjoyed them. One of the organisers of the event, Magda Bester, shared their happiness with the turnout. “We expected 100 people but by 12pm where had over 140 people present. It’s amazing because people said they want to help to the school and they did exactly that by being present.”

People of all ages, races and dance skills took to the floor to strut their stuff. The man who led a lot of the dance sets was Leon Nel, dance instructor at Rainbow Line Dancers. With nothing but a smile on his face and the rhythm of the music guiding his feet in all the right directions, he showed the newbies how to perform the art that is line dancing.

Nel shared a few characteristics that make the dance style so famous. “Line dancing is a lot of fun because you can do it without a partner and at any age. You can also adapt the dance to any type of music.”

Fun for all as Casa Do Sol hosts their line dance fundraiser.

Nel said the reason they got on board was because of their ties to the school. “Every year we do a fundraiser and this year we decided to come to Casa Do Sol. This is because we had one of our best dancers attend here in 2018.”

Apart from Rainbow Line Dancers, Spectrum Valuations and Assets Solutions and Sally At Nkozi Rogers Attorneys were also massive supporters of the event. They both pledged significant support to the school which both Bester and Nel were extremely excited by/ They are also thankful to all the other sponsors that got on board by donating prizes for those that were selected for an array of awards during the course of the dance fiesta.
