One shot in alleged airport follow home robbery

NORTHCLIFF – Shot driver is in stable condition.

An airport shuttle driver is suspected to have been shot on the evening of 16 February. According to Clive Maher of SCP Security the driver suspected he was shot at during an attempted hijacking while he was on Smuts Avenue in Waterval Estate.

Maher alleged that four suspects followed the shuttle from the airport in a white Toyota.

He said, “The driver of the transport company fled from the hijackers on Smuts Avenue and later stopped at the Engen garage at Northcliff Corner just down the road after realizing that he had been shot.”

Maher added that the driver was assessed by paramedics on the scene and once in a stable condition, taken to a nearby hospital.

Police are still to comment on the incident. An update will be made once it is available.
