King David learners chosen as Ort Youth ambassadors

VICTORY PARK – The Ort SA Youth Club consists of teenagers from high schools across the Johannesburg area.

VICTORY PARK – Ort, a non-government organisation devoted to education and affiliated to World Ort, has trained and empowered thousands of South Africans in business development, cutting-edge teacher training, skills development, work readiness programmes and basic computer literacy.

In November last year, 13 enthusiastic learners from high schools across the Johannesburg flew to Argentina and spent a week there together with 400 other youths from around the world in a World Ort / Scholas Occurentes Youth Summit, under the auspices of Pope Francis. The learners came back home, having learnt a lot from this trip and were motivated to pass on their experience on to others.

The Ort SA Youth Club was launched on 8 February at the assemblies of both King David Linksfield and King David Victory Park high and the 13 learners were inaugurated as Ort SA Youth Ambassadors.

The youth club welcomes all high school learners and the advantages of belonging to the club for youth include, attending educational talks and workshops, access to top mentors for work shadowing and opportunities to volunteer for community service.

The shaping of the youth club is a result of last years’ affiliation agreement signed between the SABJE (South African Board of Jewish Education) and World Ort which led to the and the participation of the Ort SA Youth ambassadors at the youth summit in Buenos Aires.
