Oxford College hosts their annual prize giving ceremony

BLACKHEATH – What a year it has been for Oxford College.

Oxford College recently celebrated their top academic learners and the achievements of the school at their prize giving ceremony.

It has been a glorious 2018 for the learners, parents and staff of Oxford College. The combined primary and high school held their annual prize giving ceremony on 5 December 2018 to highlight the achievements of the learners and the school. Principal of the school, Julie Tazvivinga, was excited to host this year’s commemoration to their excellence.

On the day learners were awarded for their academic excellence. Munashe Ndoro was named Student of the Year for the primary school while Gift Roy was named the high school’s Student of the Year for the second time in a row. In addition to the trophies they received, they were also gifted with cell phones as part of their prizes. Awards were also handed out to Meso Kgosingwe, Mqhelewenkosi Mpunzi, Nicole Musindo, Alexis Harrial, Tatenda Tazvivinga and Khumo Ramotebele.

The school had one of their closest partners, Fairland Police Station, attending the event with Sergeant Maggie Mushasha being their guest of honour. The constant interaction and collaborations between Oxford College and Fairland police has resulted in them having a strong and trustworthy relationship. Tazvivinga thanked them for the commitment they have showed to the school and their learners.

Learners, parents, staff and partners of Oxford College are all present at the school’s annual prize giving ceremony on 5 December 2018.

Principal Tazvivinga shared with all those in attendance that this year the school had won two debating competitions. The first being the provincial Corri-West-Bont debate and the second was the battle of the VS debate. She congratulated each and every learner and their coach, Mr James Chihombori, for bring these trophies home to the school. Tazvivinga was also proud to announce that the school had attained accreditation from the Cambridge International Examinations. This means that their learners will write the same exams as other United Kingdom curriculum learners from across the world. This will put their school leaving certificates on par with some of the best schools in the world – an exciting prospect for their learners and their future plans.

Tazvivinga thanked all parties that were involved in preparing and hosting the ceremony. She also thanked Suitup Call Centre Solutions, Macrain Talent Agency, Bond Stationers and SPAR Blackheath for getting on board to make the event a reality and success.
