Growing Champions host first ever awards ceremony

FAIRLAND – Growing Champions had a night of glitz, glamour and festivities at their inaugural awards ceremony.

Friends and family of Growing Champions (GC) were all in attendance at the NPO’s first ever awards ceremony.

The event was aimed at celebrating the incredible efforts that led the team to winning the Rand Central League Football Association’s (RCLFA) 2018 league trophy.

Founder of GC Sam Toweel-Moore and coach Delano Ayer handed out a bunch of awards to their star players and supports.

Delano Ayer and Sam Toweel-Moore worked extremely hard to be named league champions for 2018.

In addition to the awards being handed out, Keanin Ayer the person who motivated Toweel-Moore to start Growing Champions, gave the keynote speech at the event.

After being pulled out of the poverty and violence he faced growing up in Eldorado Park, Ayer is now playing soccer professionally for the club Varberg Bois FC in Sweden.

He shared his tales of misfortune, commitment, culture shocks, and challenges he faced on his road to success.

As much of a turnaround he has had, he is still a humble young man that has even bigger dreams. He urged the boys of GC to never give up and someday they will see the benefits of their hard work.
