A word of thanks from the Linden Police Station

Linden Police Station Commander Colonel Zaieed Musthan has applauded the work done by security companies, the Community Policing Forum (CPF) and community members in helping to bring the crime rate in the area down in the past year.

Musthan spoke at the Linden police External Role Players Forum held at the station on 20 November.

He said, “I cannot put in words how much this station appreciates the work and the partnership that these security companies and community members bring to the station. I say thank you on behalf of all officers and management of the station from the bottom of our hearts.

“Running a station is not easy, and if we didn’t have partners in security, it would be an uphill battle. The achievements on the part of the station that these role players have contributed to are immense.”

Musthan said that the station is one of the best-performing stations in the cluster, and thanks to the help of the role-players, it has impacted the levels of crime in a positive way.

He added that security companies and the CPF have been instrumental in various police operations co that have occurred throughout the year.

He also applauded the work done by security companies in Sector 3 to help the elderly with alarm systems.

“Crimes against the elderly is a national priority for the police. I commend the work done by security companies in helping the vulnerable elderly in our community, and I encourage security companies in other sectors to get involved,” he said.

According to Musthan, one of the biggest problems facing the station is contact crimes, with trio crimes in particular. These crimes include hijackings, and robberies at residential premises and business premises.

“Trio crimes are the one category in our statistics that we are fighting hard to bring down. This type of crime is something that truly puts fear into the hearts of people.

We are working on a strategy to deal with it, placing a strong focus on street robberies in our hotspot areas.

“By putting our heads together with external role players and with their assistance, we can bring crime down so much that Linden will be the best performing station in the province.”
