Lara Foot is a multi-award-winning playwright, South African director and producer and her award-winning play Tshepang: The Third Testament is heading to Joburg Theatre for a limited run (including the original cast) at The Fringe from 18 – 28 October.
Based on a true story, Tshepang: The Third Testament draws on a South African style of story-telling, combining striking visual imagery with magic realism, Mncedisi Shabangu reprises his role as Simon and Nonceba Constance Didi plays Ruth in this haunting and uplifting story of redemption.
Shabangu, well known for his different and personal style of physical theatre, received the 2003 Fleur du Cap Best Actor award for his performance, while the simplicity and symbolism of Gerhard Marx’s designs create an evocative backdrop for Foot’s critically-acclaimed work.
Tshepang has won a number of awards, including the Critics Circle Award in Montreal and the Best New South African Play and Best Actor at the Fleur du Cap Awards in SA.
It has toured Germany and Switzerland, as well as playing in New York, Edinburgh, London, Brisbane, Stockholm and Amsterdam. Published in English and Zulu, it has been performed in prisons and rural settlements throughout SA.
Joburg Theatre offers a range of affordable ticket options for Tshepang, ranging from R 40 – R 150. The show runs for 80 minutes without an interval, carries an age restriction of PG 15.
