Bid for community clean-up of Herdershof police flats

ALBERTVILLE – Community leaders are asking for donations to help clean-up flats and the main problem is dirt and litter.

Community member Edward Seabourne has vowed to help clean-up the Herdershof police flats.

Seabourne would like members of the community to donate flowers and much-needed supplies for the entrance of the block of flats.

He is taking part in this initiative with another community member, Victor Mmuroa and is encouraging others to participate on 24 November.

Seabourne runs the I Love Albertville Facebook page and was touched when he saw a post by Mmuroa, a resident at the Herdershof police flats which needed donations for flowers and plants to brighten up the entrance to make it more welcoming for the residents who live there.

The Northcliff Melville Times took a tour of the block of flats and saw that the main problem seemed to be dirt and litter.

Seabourne said, “Over many years this building has been left to deteriorate and needs more work.”

He explained that they needed assistance from companies and willing community members for the following:

  • Help to build a playground for the children
  • A power-wash for the stairs and walkways
  • Paint for the entrances and communal areas
  • Reinstating of electrical lights
  • Servicing and reinstating of fire equipment.

Seabourne concluded that with the residents and community members of Albertville taking responsibility and assisting in the clean-up for the block of flats, “We hope to have a major community clean-up on the 24th of November.”

Anyone willing to assist can contact Edward Seabourne on 083 230 6736 via WhatsApp.
